Coastal Scandi – Birch Plywood Shop Counter
Coastal Scandi is an independent retail shop focusing on Cornish and Scandinavian interiors – home accessories, kitchen & tableware, organic bath & body, lifestyle products, gifts and more.
I created a striking shop counter that draws the customers eye in as soon as you enter the shop. The counter consists of an 18mm birch plywood carcass. Batons of plywood wrap around the unit to create a endless flow of wood and a thick 36mm plywood counter top overhangs to create subtle shadows and a sense of depth. White Fenix NTM laminate was used for the work surface, giving it a beautiful, soft, tactile finish as well as being hard wearing. Behind the counter is 3 large, soft close drawers and adjustable shelves which gives plenty of room to store such items as bags, pens and packing equipment. Concealed heavy duty castor wheels enable the whole unit to be moved around as desired, keep the shop looking fresh and such a large object easily manoeuvrable .
